How will Express and Local bus service change in the future?
Express and Local bus service is the core of Capital Metro’s public transit system. Both services will be expanding as part of the All Systems Go plan. In fact, we expect Express and local bus service to double in the next 20 years.
Will you be adding any new Park & Ride facilities?
Yes. We have already built several Park & Rides at Tech Ridge, Leander Station and Howard Station. Capital Metro will continue to build new Park & Ride locations to provide you with more convenient access to service.
Will buses be rerouted when Capital MetroRail service begins?
Bus service will expand to complement Capital MetroRail. At several locations, special shuttle routes will offer direct connections from trains to major destinations. In some cases, existing local, crosstown and feeder routes will be adjusted to serve rail stations. Customers will have the opportunity to review and comment on final bus change proposals before they are implemented.
Will any bus service along rail routes be eliminated?
Many existing bus services along the proposed routes would continue, especially to supplement service during off-peak and night periods until rail service hours are expanded. Capital Metro will continue to monitor productivity of all transit services, including passenger rail; and there may be a time in the future when routes must be realigned to maximize efficiency.
