Local and Express bus service is the core of Capital Metro’s public transit system. We are building new Park & Ride locations to provide you with more convenient access to service. We’re upgrading bus stops across our service area with new shelters, benches, signs, maps and other amenities.

Our routes are expanding in the fastest growing areas of your community. A mix of downtown, crosstown and feeder services will get you where you need to go. As an added convenience, we are increasing local bus service to provide you frequent-stop access.

Improved alignment of routes will enhance bus and rail connections for Express and local bus service.

• Capital Metro added the new 970 Lantana Express route in January 2008.
• Express ridership increased 12 percent in FY 2007.
• The 982 and 983 continue to be the most popular Express routes, averaging 700 riders daily.
• Since the opening of 183A, Express Routes 983, 986 and 987 travel along the toll road free of charge providing more efficient service from Leander.
• We offer free WiFi access on our red and white Express buses.

• Capital Metro is currently working on plans to increase local and Express service in South Austin, Oak Hill and Manor in the near future.
