Transit Centers are off-street facilities that provide a place for customers to transfer from one route to another to complete their trip. Transit Centers are situated where major transit routes intersect and provide connections between local, cross-town and feeder routes. Transit Centers feature dedicated bus bays, passenger waiting areas, and “Kiss and Ride” areas that allow for a smooth flow of vehicles and provide for safe pedestrian movement. Transit Centers provide covered waiting areas and other passenger amenities (some have limited parking).

Capital Metro recently reached a milestone with the opening of the South Congress Transit Center at the southwest corner of South Congress and Ben White. The new transfer center offers more amenities and provides a southern transfer point for several routes.

Additionally, Capital Metro offers a transit center in North Austin. The North Lamar Transit Center is located at North Lamar and Hwy 183. Other locations are being planned for East, Southwest and Downtown Austin.
